Jewish Roots of the Christian Faith “For I am not ashamed of the Good News, since it is God’s powerful means of bringing salvation to everyone who keeps on trusting, to the Jew especially, but equally to the Gentile." (Romans 1:16 CJB) “So then, you are no longer foreigners and strangers. On the contrary, you are fellow-citizens with God's people and members of God's family. You have built on the foundations of the emissaries and the prophets, with the cornerstone being Yeshua the Messiah himself.” (Eph 2:19-20 CJB)
This section of the website is devoted to exploring and understanding the Hebrew foundation of the New Testament and its teachings. |

Articles The Defamation Against Zacchaeus Abstract: For centuries Bible expositors have treated Zacchaeus as a virtual criminal, guilty of all manner of offenses including theft, fraud, extortion, and bribery. Zacchaeus was certainly guilty in the court of public opinion, but a close examination of the evidence yields a very different picture. (5 pages) Eucharist or Messianic Passover?
Abstract:
Christians have been taught for centuries that Jesus inaugurated an
entirely new ritual that replaced the Jewish Passover.
But,
did Jesus really intend to change or abolish Passover? Does the
evidence support the belief that He instituted a sacrament or a new
rite? Abstract: From the beginning of the world there were noted men of God, such as Abel, Enoch, Noah and Job (Job 1:1), who led exemplary lives and spoke for God, but one man is distinguished in Scripture as the father of the people of God and that man was a Hebrew (Gen 14:13). This article explores the nature of that faith, what happened to it in church history and what should be done to restore the true faith of the apostles. (4 pages PDF) Abstract: Down through church history Jacob has been the subject of much criticism from Gentile Bible scholars, teachers and ministers for allegedly stealing a blessing that belonged to Esau. But, could Jacob steal his own property? This article explores the evidence of the biblical record. (3 pages) Abstract: For well over a century the observance of the seventh day as the Sabbath by various churches has provoked considerable discussion and not a little opposition from other churches. So, which day is the Sabbath and how does God intend for His people to honor the Fourth Commandment? (6 pages) Scripture vs. Replacement Theology Abstract: Replacement Theology contends that the (Gentile) Church replaced Israel in God’s affections. Yet, the evidence of the New Testament is overwhelmingly against Replacement Theology. (3 pages PDF) |
Articles (Cont.) Abstract: Many Christians, aided by Gentile translations, have misinterpreted Paul's phrase "under Law" to effectively nullify obedience to God's commandments. The phrase should be translated "under legalism," a very different controversy between Jesus and the Pharisees than commonly understood. Disciple's Amidah.
The Amidah
is the most important Jewish prayer, dating back to the 5th
century BCE. Jesus prayed this prayer when He went to synagogue worship. The word Amidah
literally means standing, because it is recited while standing. It is also
known as Sh’moneh Esrei, meaning eighteen (8+10), because it consists
of eighteen blessings.
The Disciple's Amidah illustrates how the Jewish disciples of
Yeshua may have prayed using this format. Feel free to
pray each category in your own words. Similar in concept to the Four Spiritual Laws, the Five Jewish Laws is a simple tool to introduce a person to the Jewish Messiah using only Scriptures from the Jewish Bible.
